Questions

Gold rate FAQs

Why does the gold rate change during the day?

The price of gold is set on international markets and quoted in US dollars, so it moves with global demand and with the rupee–dollar exchange rate. Our page refreshes the rate through the trading day. International gold markets close at weekends, so the rate stays at Friday’s last price until trading resumes.

Does this rate include GST and making charges?

No. The rate shown is the value of the gold only, including import duty. When you buy jewellery, making charges (and stone charges, if any) are added, and GST at 3% is charged on the total. Gold coins and bars attract GST but usually only a small minting or packaging charge.

Is this the exact rate I will pay at Vyoora Jewels?

It is a close indication. The final rate for your purchase is confirmed on your order or invoice at the time of billing, and is shown separately from making charges and GST. Please contact us for a firm quote.

What is the difference between 24K, 22K and 18K gold?

24K gold (999) is 99.9% pure and is used for coins and bars. 22K gold (916) contains 91.6% gold and is the most common purity for Indian jewellery. 18K gold (750) contains 75% gold and is stronger, so it is preferred for diamond and studded jewellery. The rate per gram falls in proportion to the gold content.

Why is the rate different on other websites or in other cities?

Jewellers and bullion associations add their own premiums, and local demand can make prices differ slightly between cities. Some websites also show rates including GST. Always compare like with like: purity, weight, and whether GST and making charges are included.
